Overview

HemingwayApp is a single-page, single-purpose web application that aims to help writers to identify issues with the readability of their creation. The application will:

  1. Ensure that the usage of English is fluid
  2. Offer hints to target the audience’s reading level

Once the user places a block of text in HemingwayApp, the application  will highlight and label the copy. These modifications alert the user of possible problems with the structure of their sentences. It should be noted that the HemingwayApp doesn’t issue alerts related to spelling or grammar errors: its only purpose is to identify where a potential reader could have problems following the text.  mainly because the sentences are dragging on for too long and the voice is confusing.

Content and Audience

HeminwayApp is a good example of an application that does very little, yet what it does, it does it flawlessly. The interface is clean and the feedback is instantaneous.Since it is free — though there is a paid version available — there’s really no reason why writers wouldn’t pay HemingwayApp a visit every time they are about to tap the Publish button. Anyone who writes anything with the goal of being read and understood should give HeminwayApp a try. Chances are that once you get used to it, you won’t publish g a line without first checking your colors on HemingwayApp.
